37 How do we prevent blindness in this patient?

Boy, 7 years old

4 years history of intermittent keratitis, primary in the left eye during the last year in both eyes.

5 week premature and a slight mentally retardation, speech problems and diffeculties with balance.

During examinations a cyst in fossa cranii medium on the left side were found together with a hypertrophia of the bone in the left temporal region.. Hypoaestesia of both corneae and the left temporal region were found.

The cyst were removed with no effect on the hyposensation of the cornea.

The keratitis is now chronic and the scarring is threatening the visual aquity. He has tried many different ointments, CL and laser ablation has been proposed, but not yet done.

How can we prevent the boy in growing blind?
