Ocular aspects of Aicardi's syndrome
Magalh Augusto, Breda Jorge, Coutinho1Department of Ophtalmology/ Hospital de S. Jo
Introduction: Aicardi's syndrome is a rare disease with about 200 cases reported in the literature. It affects mainly females, and characteristically it courses with infantile spasms, absence of corpus callosum, and chorio-retinal peripapilar lesions. Case report: The author describes a clinical case of a latent female with convulsions from the age of 3 months old. The lacunar chorio-retinal defects were presented, with partial agenesia of corpos callosum documented with nuclear magnetic ressonance and also dorsal hemivertebras. Conclusion: Considerations are made about the importance of Ophtalmology on the diagnostic.
