EPOS
European Paediatric Ophthalmological Society
Invitation
Dear friends of EPOS,
The 29th meeting of the EPOS will be held here in Regensburg on October 2 - 4, 2003. As discussed at the General Assembly in Figueira da Foz this year, the scientific sessions will be held all day on October 3 and 4.
The main topic will be
Gene Therapy and Other Modern Therapeutic Approaches in Paediatric Retinal Degenerations.
There will be, however, still time for free papers on other aspects of paediatric ophthalmology and genetics. The deadline for submitting abstracts is July 4th. The submissions will be reviewed. Depending on the volume of submissions it may become necessary - as in previous years - to limit the time for case presentations to 5 minutes, the time for paper presentations will be 10 minutes. We will inform you at the latest one month before the meeting on the acceptance of your abstract. You will find all necessary information at the website of the Society.
The first board of EPOS has been elected at the General Assembly in Figueira da Foz this year. As we now are an official society I invite all of you to register to become members in good standing. Registration will be done electronically on the homepage. On the homepage you will also find all information on membership and fees. If you decide not to become a member but want to stay on the mailing list you have this option as well. All those enlisted on the former EPOG mailing list will receive this letter as a last call up to join EPOS or register to its mailing list. Members of the former EPOG mailing list will not receive any further announcements!
We estimate that nowadays nearly all of us have the opportunity to access the website or ask someone to assist. We choose to implement the electronic communication as it not only facilitates and speeds up interchange but also reduces cost and provides an opportunity to assure that everyone has been informed.
For those of us who do not have access to the internet, please contact the president´s office (see address in the header).
In 2002 EPOS has done a major step forward in its history. All changes going along with the transformation into an official society and implementation of modern communication methods have been done in the true belief that these will contribute to the reputation of EPOS and the promotion of paediatric ophthalmology in Europe.
To end, I would like to express my warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Successful New Year.
Sincerely yours,
Prof. Dr. med. Birgit Lorenz
President
